The 72-hectare vineyard of Castello di Monsanto is surrounded by over 100 hectares of Mediterranean vegetation. The wood is the birthplace of the vineyard.
Together with the garden and the two streams which cross the estate, it represents the habitat of the forms of life present at Monsanto: the green lung which produces a harmonic balance between the numerous species of fauna and flora present. It is easy to come across many animal species among bay trees, holm-oaks, junipers, oak trees, arbustus berry trees, elders.
This microcosm is the “humus” from which the natural enzymes are created, those important for the vineyards of Monsanto.
